According to this article found on prophecynewswatch.com, http://www.prophecynewswatch.com/2010/January20/2022.html, a scenario exists where we could soon see Israel launch a military strike against Damascus.
This is interesting in light of a prophecy concerning the city of Damascus in Isaiah 17:1. It reads like this: The burden (prophecy) against Damascus: Behold Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap. NKJV
Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city in the world. It has never been destroyed, so obviously this prophecy could not have already been fulfilled. However, we could be nearing the day when we will see it fulfilled in our lifetime.
