Christians who love Israel and the Jewish people need to bathe the uprising in Egypt in prayer. Here is what is at stake.
If the current regime, which has been friendly ( and I use that term loosely) with Israel is overthrown, there is a tremendous possibility of a radical Islamic government coming to power. This would further cause Israel to be surrounded by enemies.
Christians need to be praying that the organization known as the Muslim Brotherhood does not come to power in Egypt.
The day is coming when all nations of the earth will come against Israel, and what is happening in Egypt could be bringing us closer to that day.

Potentially important decision looming for U.S. on Israel
An anti-Israeli resolution that is being pushed by the Palestinians in the United Nations could soon come up for a vote by the member nations. As one of the five members of the United Nations Security Council, the United States would have the power to veto it.
The resolution calls for the creation of a Palestinian state by bypassing negotiations with Israel. By not vetoing the resolution, the U.S. would be endorsing one of the most anti-Israeli resolutions ever brought before the U.N.
We need to pray that the leaders of our nation will see that this resolution is inappropriate, and vote against it so that we can avoid setting ourselves up as a nation that is cursing Israel and not blessing Israel.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/28/lawmakers-obama-administration-veto-anti-israel-resolution/#
On a related note: There are a lot of ways the government of the U.S. can cut spending, but cutting off aid to Israel is probably not the best idea. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky needs to understand that the nations that bless Israel will be blessed, and the nations that curse Israel will be cursed.

A Biblilcal look at what is happening in Egypt
Any political or military event in the Middle East is of interest to those who study Bible prophecy. Whenever there is activity in the region the question always is asked, "How does this fit into the grand scheme of end-time events?" The current situation in Egypt is no different.
There is no Bible prophecy that talks about what is happening now in Egypt, but what is happening now could be setting the stage for a prophecy concerning Egypt that will one day be fulfilled.
Daniel 11:42-43 tells us that in the last days Egypt will be taken over by the Antichrist. The growing political instability in the nation could be preparing it for a day in which it will be taken over by an outside power, the Antichrist. The possibility of an outside nation taking control of Egypt seemed unlikely to the natural mind due to the long, authoritarian rule of Hosni Mubarak. An unsettled future, or weaker leader makes the inevitable takeover of Egypt very possible.

Interesting turn of events in Lebanon
Najib Mikati, the man selected to form Lebanon's next government, is backed by Hezbollah. Hezbollah is the Iranian supported terrorist organization determined to see the destruction of Israel.
It has been speculated for some time that Iran might use Hezbollah in Lebanon to launch a proxy war against Israel. Having one of their men in power might make this a more likely possibility.
Psalm 83 tells of a group of nations that will one day come against Israel to wipe her off the map. Lebanon is one of the nations included in that group. Could the rise to power of a Hezbollah backed leader expedite the time frame for Psalm 83's fulfillment?
I think the following quote from the second of the two following linked articles sums up the situation best.
"With Mikati as Prime Minister tenure contingent on a continued blessing from Iranian backed Hezbollah there will be a new power dynamic on Israel’s northern border and one must wonder how long it will continue to be the story of what hasn’t happened."

More on Zechariah 12:3
Zechariah 12:3 tells us that one day all nations of the earth will come against Israel. The following article provides evidence that we are approaching that day.
The article is on the intentions of the new Republican majority in congress to cut the amount of U.S. funds going to the United Nations. As you read further down the article you come across some interesting information regarding Israel and the U.N.'s Human Rights Council.
The council has repeatedly ignored violations by states such as China, Iran, and Cuba, nations known as violators of human rights. However, there have been 35 resolutions passed by the council against Israel. There have only been a few over a dozen against all the other nations of the world.
From this article you can see the trend growing that many, and we'll one day see all, of the nations of the world are turning against Israel.

Turkey continues to show its true colors
Once an ally to Israel, Turkey continues its turn towards being an antagonist of Israel. This should not be a surprise since Turkey is one of the nations of Ezekiel 38-39 to attack Israel in the war of Gog and Magog.

Another nation aligns against Israel
One day all nations of the earth will come against Israel. Here is one more who has aligned against her.

Strong statement from Palestinian negotiator
The Palestinian Authority's chief negotiator has made some strong statements regarding Palestinian statehood. He recently said a Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders is coming and that there is nothing Israel can do to stop it.
This seems to me to be a very strong statement to make unless he has had some sort of behind the scenes assurances from some source that there will be strong international support for such a proposal.
Saeb Erekat, the negotiator, stated nothing was going on behind the scenes as far as negotiations with Israel go, but one has to wonder what else may be going on behind the scenes to give him the courage to make such a declaration.

Interesting stoy out of Lebanon
Here is an interesting story on recent Hezbollah actions in Lebanon. Hezbollah is a Islamic terrorist organization committed to the destruction of Israel. Their taking control of Lebanon's capital would not be looked upon as a positive by Israel.

More on currency
I believe one of the trends to keep an eye on in the future is movement in the world economy in regard to currency. We know from Revelation that the day is coming when the entire world economy will operate on one-world-currency. I believe movement toward such a system is already underway.
Since the U.S. dollar is the world's reserve currency, it will be prominently featured in any currency discussions. Therefore, any news involving the U.S. dollar is worth reading.
Multiple nations, including China and Russia, have already called for a movement away from the dollar as the world's reserve currency. With the visit of China's president to the U.S. going on now, there has been some back and forth over the role of the dollar and the value of China's currency the yuan. The contention over such issues could have major ramifications on the world economy, and potentially dire consequences for the economy of the United States. It could also lead us close to a the Biblically prophesied one-world-currency.

China's leader speaks out on U.S. currency
Leading up to a visit to the United States, China's president has called the days of a dollar dominated currency system a "thing of the past." Moving away from a dollar dominated system would have terrific ramifications on the U.S. economy. It also could be an early step toward a one-world-currency which we know will happen during the tribulation. While that system won't come into play until then, we could be starting to see how it will take shape now.

Important meeting on Mid-East peace talks set for February 5
The U.S., U.N., E.U., and Russia are meeting on February 5 to discuss the resumption of Mid-East peace talks. There has been little new information lately on this topic, but the pace of the process and the volume of news could increase after this meeting.
What will be interesting to see in this meeting is if pressure is applied equally to both sides to reach a peace deal, or if the hammer is dropped on Israel to stop building Jewish settlements and give up land.

Keep an eye on food prices in the days ahead.
Below is an interesting article on rising food prices. Tracking rising food prices will be an interesting venture in the future for those who follow current events in the light of Biblical prophecy.
The black horse of Revelation 4 shows a day is coming in which food prices will skyrocket. The conditions for this day could be taking place right before our eyes.

Early steps to a one-world currency
Another nation, this time France, is push for less reliance on the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency. France now joins China and Russia as nations who have suggested it may be time to change the world financial order.
As calls like this from nations increase, it leads us closer and closer to the time when the world financial system will be under the control of one man and will use one currency.
The Biblical implications of this do not change or cover up the fact that any move from the U.S. dollar the the world's reserve currency would have devastating effects on the U.S. economy. Since the U.S. is not mentioned in Biblical prophecy, could a move away from the dollar play a part in the decline of the U.S. as a world power as we approach the end?

PLO chief negotiator to visit U.S.
The PLO's chief negotiator in the peace talks with Israel has been invited to the U.S. to hear "new American ideas" on how to get the peace talks going again. Since the Palestinians have walked away from negotiations due to Israeli settlement building, it will be interesting to see what these ideas are.
One has to wonder if the U.S. administration's ideas will be more favorable to the Palestinian cause. Christians in America need to pray that our leaders take positions that are blessing Israel and not cursing Israel. (Genesis 12).

Disturbing statement from Hillary Clinton
The following article contains a very disturbing statement from United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In the article she calls Israeli presence Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem "illegitimate."
This is even more disturbing if this is more than just her personal opinion, but also the official position of the U.S. government.
