Two (potentially related) news stories to track.

There are a couple of items in the news to keep track of in the coming days.

The first is the upcoming visit of Israelis Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit with U.S. President Barack Obama. The deteriorating of the relationship between the U.S. and Israel has been well chronicled here. It will be interesting to see the state of the relationship after this visit. The following article details the recent changes in this relationship.

The second is the developing tropical depression Alex. Will it develop into a full blown hurricane? Will it hit the U.S.? You can read more about it by clicking the following link.

I mentioned in this entry title that these stories could potentially be related. We have seen in the past that anti-Israeli actions/foreign policy on the part of the United States have led to negative consequences somewhere in the country. As chronicled by William Koenig in his book Eye of the Storm, sometimes those consequences have come in the form of hurricanes inflicting sever damage on various U.S. cities and states.

If President Obama uses this visit by Prime Minister Netanyahu as an occasion to take a more anti-Israeli posture, could tropical depression Alex become Hurricane Alex and slam the United States? No one can say for sure, but it is worth watching.
