Attack on Syria might be coming soon

According to a source, Israel is on the verge of attacking Hezbollah arms depots in Syria. Such an attack could escalate into a full scale war. If such a war broke out, an attack on Damascus could come into play. Isaiah 17:1 states that Damascus will one day be destroyed. This could be the lead up to the fulfillment of this prophecy.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/report-israel-planning-to-attack-hezbollah-arms-depots-in-syria-1.310655

The above article also states that Israeli drones have been flying over Lebanon. This is interesting in light of the fact that Israel delivered a message to this week to Lebanon saying a plan was in place to wipe out the Lebanese army in four hours in the event of another border skirmish. It is possible Israel was delivering this message to give Lebanon pause about getting involved in a war between Israel and Syria. However, Psalm 83 says one day both of those nations will be involved in a war with Israel.

The latest on the upcoming peace talks

The following article gives an update on the upcoming peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The most interesting item, in my opinion, from the article is the large role President Obama plans on playing in the talks.

U.S. views Israeli settlements in West Bank as illegitimate

The following article states the position of the U. S. government that Israeli settlements built in the West Bank are illegitmate.

At the risk of sounding redundant, this is part of the land promised to Abraham and his descendants by God. Any nation that tries to force Israel from this land will find themselves under God's curse, and that is not a desirable place to be.

U.S. wants peace agreement within a year

The following article explains how the U.S government is expecting a full, not partial, peace agreement within a year. Most experts agree this time frame is not realistic. Considering this, it makes me wonder how much pressure the U.S. is willing to exert to bring about peace.

Excellent read on the Israel/Iran situation

The following link is to a great opinion piece from foxnews.com on the Israel/Iran situation. The whole article is worth reading, but here are the two most interesting points.

* Apparently the U.S. has convinced Israel that Iran still a year away from having a nuclear weapon, therefore there is no need for an imminent attack.

* According to the author, President Obama is going to try to use this situation to push through an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement.

Direct talks between Israel and Palestinians set to begin September 2

Things could get very interesting in the next couple of weeks. It was announced today that direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians will begin in Washington D.C. on September 2.

According to Fox News' Special Report a one year time frame has been established to reach a peace deal. However, many are skeptical this time frame is realistic.

This could be the beginning of a major setting of pieces in place for the fulfillment of significant end time events. It his highly unlikely these talks will lead to the seven year agreement made by the Antichrist (although nothing is impossible), but they could lead to the peace mentioned that will be in place in Israel at the time of the invasion by the Gog-Magog coalition of Ezekiel 38-39.

Without question this is an exciting time to be alive.

United States support of Israel

There are three reoccurring topics from this blog I want to briefly mention to you again.

First, as has been stated here many times, it is very important for the United States to continue to be a supporter of the nation of Israel. We know that Genesis 12:3 promises those who bless Israel will be blessed, but those who curse Israel will be cursed.

Second, it has also been pointed out here many times that there is a correlation between disasters (natural and others) in the U.S. and negative foreign policy decisions toward Israel. Bill Koenig has an excellent book on this topic entitled Eye of the Storm. (Follow the link to watch.org on the right side of the page to find how to secure your own copy.)

Third, I have documented the disturbing trend in U.S. foreign policy to being less friendly to Israel and more antagonistic.

With those things in mind, check the following article.

Also, could this be a reason for the trend away from supporting Israel?

Is it too late to stop Iran?

There are some who believe that it may already be too late for Israel or the United States to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

According to former U. S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton, Saturday is the deadline for Israel to strike Iran. However there are those who believe that would not stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb, only delay them.

Terrorists planning for Israeli-Iran war

With the possibility of a Israeli-Iran war looming, Islamic terrorists are making plans for attacking Israel.

Possible August 21 deadline for Israeli strike on Iran

According to former United States Ambassador to the U. N. John Bolton, Israel could be faced with a deadline of August 21 to launch a preemptive strike on Iran. The August 21 date is due to the news this week of Russia loading fuel into an Iranian nuclear reactor. Read the following article for more details.

Ahmadinejad once again threatens Israel

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has threatened Israel by saying any invasion of Lebanon will be met by retribution from the Islamic/regional nations. This statement makes one wonder if the first domino is getting ready to be pushed over that will cause the others to follow.

A. Israel will be involved in a war with Lebanon. Psalm 83

B. Iran will be part of a coalition of nations to attack Israel. Ezekiel 38-39.

It is possible that a war between Israel and Lebanon (and more than likely Syria, Isaiah 17) could lead to the nations of Ezekiel 38-39 forming their coalition to come against Israel.

Election year effects on U.S. foreign policy toward Israel

Don't be surprised if U.S. foreign policy is much softer in tone and action toward Israel in the coming weeks and months. Harassing Israel is bad for business when it comes to getting elected in this country.

There are a large number of Jewish voters who will think twice about voting for candidates they would normally support if they are supporting anti-Israeli policies. Alienating this voting bloc is not a risk any politician is willing to take, whether running for his own re-election or just campaigning on behalf of someone else.

I fully expect after November for our government to begin applying pressure again on Israel to surrender land for peace and a Palestinian state. There will be politicians looking for a peace agreement in the Middle East by the elections of 2012 to use a feather in their cap.

Netanyahu rejects pre-1967 border

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected pre-1967 borders for a proposed Palestinian state. This statement has delayed what seemed to be a possible soon start for direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

As time goes on I am sure we will see Netanyahu vilified for his stance on no accepting pre-1967 borders. I would also speculate that after November's mid-term elections that our government will take a much harsher and outspoken stand against Israel.

More from the Lebanese President

The Lebanese president is vowing to arm Lebanon's troops with advanced weaponry after the recent skirmish along the Israeli-Lebanon border.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/lebanese-president-vows-to-arm-military-with-advanced-weaponry-1.306561

Hoepefully, that advanced weaponry won't come from the United States. However, the following article does not eliminate that possibility in my mind.

Syrian president speaks out against Israel

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad recently stated his nation's position not to negotiate with Israel, and that he believes Israel's unwillingness to surrender land for peace could lead to a war in the Middle-East.

Scripturally speaking, we know that Damascus, the capital of Syria, will be destroyed (Isaiah 17:1). It is possible that this could happen in a future war involving Israel and Syria; a war which looks more and more possible and imminent each day.

Skirmish along the Israeli/Lebanese border

Four people were killed in a skirmish along the border between Israel and Lebanon. As of this time, it does not look like it will escalate beyond more than what already transpired.

This even is a reminder that tensions in the region are high, and that the smallest spark could start an enormous fire. I believe this is a small preview of greater fighting to come.

We know from Psalm 83 that Lebanon will be involved in a war in the future with Israel. This incident shows this war could come sooner rather than later.
